Make your own Glass Cleaner
25 November 2024

This is our Founders' all time favourite DIY cleaning recipe.  With the addition of vinegar and a dash of dish soap, this is guaranteed to leave a streak free finish on all surfaces, not just glass and mirrors.

INGREDIENTS FOR 500ML

  • 300ml water
  • 200ml vinegar
  • 1 pump dish soap
  • 20 drops essential oils of choice
  • Optional: 4 tbs vodka (or witch hazel, or rubbing alcohol)

METHOD

Combine all ingredients except the vodka in your freshly cleaned 500ml Améli Home vessel, stir and screw the trigger spray cap back on.

If the essential oils have not dispersed effectively, add vodka and stir.  You may need anywhere from 2-4 tablespoons, but keep checking and stirring until it has been effectively dispersed.

USE

Use a clean, dry glass cleaning cloth for glass and mirrors, or a clean microfibre cloth for counter tops, tap ware, and other surfaces that require a streak free finish.

NOTES

Our founder keeps this in an Améli Home vessel in her shower at all times. She sprays the glass quickly after each use, wipes with a squeegee and keeps a clean shower screen 95% of the time.

Please note, after prolonged exposure to vinegar and essential oils, the adhesive on your Améli Home cap liner may weaken.  If this happens, please reach out to hello@amelihome.com for a free replacement liner with no adhesive. We are currently producing cap liners that will be compatible with all liquids.

Using essential oils is usually safe when diluted with other liquids, however always research this beforehand, especially if pets or children may come into contact with the liquid.

We love to use clove, peppermint and orange essential oils for this blend, (especially at Christmas time), but you can use any of your favourite blends.

We recommend an unscented dish soap.
